May 19, 2010 · Fantastic restaurants in Komiza – much better than I found in Vis Town and we accessed much of the island on foot, om bicycles and bus. I stayed in Komiza in Sepember 2006 – like a mini Hvar Town and stayed in Vis Town in Sept. 2009.
Komiza is located in a deep bay on the western side of the island Vis below the 600 meter high mountain Hum. (1677 inhabitants according to the census from 2001). It is a typical Mediterranean village, which attracts the tourists with beautiful beaches and with narrow roads and houses squeezed together around the harbour.
Sitting at the neck of a pretty anchorage bobbing with fishing boats is Komiza, the island’s second-largest town. Though it’s smaller than Vis Town, Komiza is where most tourists stay.
